Our vision.jpg The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre is Transforming Cancer Care in Cheshire and Merseyside with the building of a new specialist cancer hospital in Liverpool. The new hospital is part of an exciting £162M programme of capital investment which will also see investment in our Wirral site.

The new Clatterbridge Cancer Centre – Liverpool will provide specialist chemotherapy and other drug therapies, radiotherapy, inpatient and outpatient care, cancer support and rehabilitation, bone marrow transplant and urgent cancer care. There will also be a teenage and young adult unit.

It will care for people from across Merseyside and Cheshire and beyond, with solid tumours and blood cancers and will also carry out clinical trials of new cancer treatments.

The new hospital will be in addition to The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre’s existing centres in Wirral and Aintree, and its chemotherapy and outpatient services in other hospitals across the region.

The £162M project is being funded by the NHS and government sources, with an additional £15 million planned to come from The New Cancer Hospital Appeal; this means that there is no PFI funding on the project.

Our vision

All patients should be able to access the best care and most advanced treatment, facilities and equipment as close to home as possible.
Cancer care should be seamless throughout the whole patient journey from diagnosis to treatment and beyond. Different professionals and organisations involved in a patient’s care should work together in a fully joined-up way.
People receiving inpatient (overnight) cancer care should have rapid on-site access to experts in intensive care and medical/surgical specialties if they need it, without having to be transferred by ambulance to another site.
All cancer patients should be offered the chance to take part in clinical trials if they wish to do so.
It should be easy for NHS healthcare professionals, university academics and cancer researchers to work together so patients receive the very best care.
Cheshire and Merseyside should become a world-class centre of excellence in cancer so patients can benefit from the most advanced expertise, treatments and research, including ‘first in human’ clinical trials.

	PropCare – wholly owned subsidiary of The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre specialising in healthcare new builds and estate management.
	Laing O’Rourke – our building contractor, with overall responsibility for the design and construction of the cancer centre.
	BDP – architects, working for Laing O’Rourke and responsible for the design of the cancer centre building.
	Aecom - working for Laing O’Rourke, responsible for civil engineering and for designing the mechanical and electrical systems to support the operation of the cancer centre.
	Crownhouse – working for Laing O’Rourke, responsible for installing the mechanical and electrical systems in the cancer centre.
	Expanded – working for Laing O’Rourke, responsible for the civil engineering work required for the cancer centre.
